Remembrance Sunday Notice    4 November, 2020

In line with Government and Church legislation over the past few months, we had already made the difficult decision that we could not safely facilitate either an in-person service at Church on Sunday nor a church procession or gathering at the War Memorial. We had put an alternative plan in place which we will are adhering to in order to try and keep everyone as safe as possible.

We are inviting people to mark the 2 minutes’ silence safely at home – perhaps standing outside your front door at 11am (within socially distanced guidelines) where you may hear the church bells ringing either side of the 2 minutes’ silence.

To help enable this we have also produced a simple order of service that you can download (from the church website or facebook page) or paper copies are available at Hartshill Community Centre for the rest of the week between 9.30-2.30).

I have also spoken to the Chair of Hartshill Parish Council and we have agreed that this is the safest option with the information we have been working with and that we have a duty of care for everyone’s safety. Please note that this has all been done in good faith within the legal guidelines we had at the time and although we are aware that rules have changed again slightly in the last day or so we feel these cannot be implemented safely in our local context at such short notice.

Please also note that In accordance with Government restrictions there are now no led or gathered services in our church buildings for the foreseeable future other than in exempted cases such as funerals. An alternative to in building services is “Daily Hope” which is a free phone line of hymns, reflections and prayers launched by the Church of England.  It has been set up particularly with those unable to join online church services during the period of restrictions in mind.  So, if you know someone in this situation, please phone them and tell them about free-phone 0800 804 8044, and why not try it for yourselves. They are planning resources for the seasonal and special Sundays that are coming up in the next few months such as Remembrance and Christmas.
